This board was created in 1924 as the Komitee für Hilfeleitung und Einwanderung in order to provide famine relief for Mennonites in Russia in cooperation with Mennonite Central Committee, and to assist in their resettlement to Canada or South America. Its name was later shortened to Hilfskomitee. In 1939 the board merged with the Peace Committee to become the Komitee für Wehrfrage und Hilfswerk.
